| Hong Kong Has Been the Largest Source of Fujian Utilizing Foreign Investment |

The report recently knew from News Office of Fujian Provincial Government that Hong Kong has been the largest source of Fujian utilizing foreign investment. As of the end of 2007, Fujian had 22577 accumulated Hong Kong-invested projects, accounting for 54.2% of the total foreign investment projects, with contractual capital of USD 60.3b and actual capital in position of USD 35.8b, accounting for 49.3% and 48.4% respectively of the total foreign investment, ranking first among the countries and regions investing in Fujian.
In 2007, Fujian newly approved 749 Hong Kong-invested projects with contractual capital of USD 4.656b and capital in position of USD 4.07b. In the first five months of this year, Fujian newly approved 180 Hong Kong-invested projects. Though the number of projects fell greatly year-on-year, the actual capital in position reached USD 1.813b, increasing by more than 1/3.
It was known that Hong Kong is also the major import and export market of Fujian foreign trade. In 2007, the import and export of Fujian to Hong Kong stood at USD 3.733b, among which export reached nearly USD 3.6b. From January to April of this year, export to Hong Kong amounted to USD 1.048b.
Currently, 67 Fujian enterprises have been listed in Hong Kong, including Fujian Zijin Mining, Longgong, Xiamen Port, with total financing amount of more than HKD 30b, ranking first among the inland provinces and cities. |
